About the project

BuilderBinder is a SaaS platform that helps sales and marketing teams discover and connect with contractors across the construction industry — replacing manual research and scattered data sources with a fast, targeted search experience built for outbound teams.

Users can find active construction and installer companies by location, specialty, and project type, then use that data to build hyper-relevant outreach campaigns. The platform gives sales teams an unfair advantage by surfacing contractor intelligence that would otherwise take hours to compile manually, turning cold prospecting into a precise, data-driven motion.

Problem

Sales and marketing teams needed a faster, more predictable way to discover and qualify construction contractors—without relying on a tedious, manual process.

Before BuilderBinder existed, teams faced significant challenges:

  • No data-driven way to qualify contractors.

Teams had no proprietary scoring mechanism to help them find and prioritize the right contractors, relying instead on their own ad-hoc approach to qualifying who to reach out to.
  • Complex contractor data, hard to search or categorize.

There was no easy way to search and categorize contractor data, making it harder to turn a large dataset into something teams could actually act on.
  • No way to see contractor geography.

Without map-based visualization, teams had no clear way to understand where contractors were located and where their work was concentrated.

Our process

We partnered with BuilderBinder to design and build a SaaS platform that gives sales and marketing teams a competitive edge in finding and reaching contractors across the construction industry, following our proven Product Ladder model.

STEP 01

MVP: validated the product with a focused first version

We started with a Lean Model Canvas to structure the idea and validate its core value proposition before writing a single line of code. This was paired with a competitors analysis and research into similar data solutions to identify what the market was missing. We then ran user interviews with sales and marketing teams to understand how they currently qualify contractors, mapped out the key user flow around search, scoring, and filtering, and built the first version on top of it — putting a working product in front of real users to validate the concept.

STEP 02

Product foundation: build a stable, scalable platform

We optimized the database to handle a large, growing volume of contractor data while keeping search fast, built a proprietary scoring mechanism to help teams prioritize contractors, and integrated Mapbox to visualize data geographically. The result was a production-ready SaaS platform with an interface that makes complex data easy to search, categorize, and export.

What we built

01

SaaS platform for sales and marketing teams

The platform gives sales and marketing teams across the US a fast, reliable way to find and qualify construction contractors — replacing manual prospecting with a searchable database of 100+ attributes, filterable by geography, specialty, and scoring signals, with results exportable to CSV and synced directly to HubSpot. Built with React, Material UI, and Redux, the product delivers a clean, intuitive experience backed by aggregated contractor data and enriched with a Mapbox-powered geographic visualization that helps teams understand where contractors operate and prioritize outreach by territory.

02

Backend & infrastructure

The backend aggregates contractor data from multiple sources and processes it through a proprietary scoring mechanism, turning unstructured internet data into a reliable, queryable dataset. Significant database optimizations were implemented to ensure fast search results across a large and growing data volume. Our proven architecture approaches and AWS Cloud use made scaling predictable and robust.

Results

BuilderBinder turned a slow, fragmented prospecting process into a fast, reliable data advantage for sales and marketing teams targeting the construction industry.

By replacing manual research with a searchable, filterable database of construction contractors across the full US, BuilderBinder gave sales teams an immediate edge in building targeted outreach lists — reducing the time from intent to qualified lead. By combining contractor data from multiple sources into a fast, scalable platform with 100+ filterable attributes, BuilderBinder transformed hours of manual prospecting into seconds of targeted lead discovery while maintaining reliable performance at scale. The result is a modern, data-driven prospecting tool that gives sales and marketing teams an unfair advantage over competitors still relying on manual methods.

Base Blocks team helped us build something novel in a space that had never been built before. Every step of the way they were a partner, ensuring we weren’t just building an idea but building towards the market. They helped conduct customer interviews & helped challenge our assumptions to ensure what we built was based on human-centered design principles. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the months of help we had

Our approach

Our dedicated team worked across all phases of development, combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution. From shaping the initial product idea and conducting user interviews to designing the interface and building the engineering foundation, we maintained close collaboration with BuilderBinder to ensure alignment on product direction and technical decisions at every stage.

Our technology stack was chosen specifically to support BuilderBinder's needs for large-scale data aggregation, fast search performance, and reliable scalability as the contractor dataset grows.
